Free Cakes for Kids
|
Free Cakes for Kids is a charity which makes free birthday cakes for children who wouldn't otherwise get one. Their service is run by volunteers and is completely FREE, friendly and confidential.
They have been baking in Swindon for two years and have made many cakes for children in the area - mostly via partnerships with the Women's Refuge, the NSPCC and other charities. Following coverage on BBC Points West, they have been able to increase their number of volunteer bakers and are now able to include Chippenham, Devizes and Royal Wootton Bassett.
Their volunteers bake homemade, personalised birthday cakes in the child's favourite theme or style. Any child who wouldn't otherwise receive a birthday cake is eligible. This could be because of the family's financial position, an illness in the family restricting a parent/carer being able to make one, the family going through a tough time which means their focus is on other areas, or many other reasons.
They work primarily through 'partner' organisations such as children's centres and charities, refuge organisations, food banks and young carers projects, who can recommend their service to those they know are experiencing hardship and would struggle to provide a birthday cake for their child. Charities and organisations can use the referral pack. You can also contact them directly for your child.
Take a look at their website: [Free Cakes] and you can see all the cakes they’ve made on their [Facebook Page]. For a referral form, please [click here] to use the online form.
