Occupational therapy

Occupational therapy, often abbreviated to O.T., is the use of treatments to develop, recover, or maintain the daily living and work skills of people who have a physical, mental or developmental condition.

It is the only service provided by the Children with a Disability Team (CDT) which may be available to children and young people who are not eligible for targeted specialist services – level 3 in the 4-level system described on our Services page.

The occupational therapy process involves:

  • Identifying daily activities that the person would like to perform or improve
  • Making interventions to achieve those improvements
  • Monitoring progress and outcomes

You can get more information about O.T. from your social worker or lead professional, as well as on the [Wiltshire Council website].
