Bath MENCAP & Gateway Sports Club - Badminton, Fun Sports & Swimming
Bath MENCAP & Gateway Sports Club was formed over 30 years ago by a group of parents to open up fun, low-cost sports to all, regardless of disability or learning difficulty. The group meets all year round every Thursday (apart from 2 weeks at Christmas) at Bath Sport & Leisure Centre and have complete use of the sports hall for just over an hr and then complete use of the main swimming pool. The pool has a platform available for wheelchair users.
The sessions are open to families with children/adults (accompanied if required) of all ages with any disability or learning difficulty

Aero Badminton Club is one of Wiltshire's most inclusive badminton clubs, where everyone's welcome on court. They are a large, but friendly badminton club that caters for players of all ages and abilities. What this is: This is a youth club for older young people with additional needs where they can socialise with their peers and participate in a range of practical activities.
Why we run it: To enable older young people with additional needs to develop a range of life skills as well as providing them with the opportunity to make new friends and meet up with existing ones. Through engagement with a range of creative and practical activities such as making and putting up shelves, building a compost bin, batik and sewing, participants develop confidence, gain skills, increase independence and improve self-esteem.
Who it’s for: This session is aimed at young people aged 15 - 25 with additional needs who want to develop life skills.
When and where it runs: 7:00pm - 9:00pm on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at Mere Youth Centre.

Its aim is to create a musical community without barriers for people of all abilities.
They meet 2-3 times a month on a Thursday. Some sessions are on Zoom, 5pm-6pm and some sessions are face to face, usually at the Warminster Civic Centre, 3pm-4.30pm (1 hour music making plus social/refreshments time).

Discos
The South Wilts Mencap disco is a fun night out for over 18’s only. A licensed bar is available. We operate a membership system for attending our discos. Adults with learning disabilities and their friends aged 18 and over are welcome providing a membership form has been completed and approved. All members will be given a membership card to show on entry. There is an entry fee of £3 per person.

Please note that South Wilts Mencap facilitate the disco session by arranging the venue with disco and bar. South Wilts Mencap do not provide support for persons attending the disco. They have several sensory backpacks available for the session, which will include different items to help nurture the session and allow those visiting to feel more at ease.

Activities: With a little help from Westwood villagers, there is a daytime pre-planned trick or treat route. Collect your bucket from the social club and follow the route as a group, looking for the special signs to indicate which houses you can visit. Once back there will be simple refreshments and one last treat for your bucket from Kay-OSS (Please no knocking on doors without signs).
