Soundabout
|
[Soundabout] is a registered charity that uses music to empower and unlock the potential of people with severe and profound learning disabilities (PMLD and SLD). Their multi-sensory music-making techniques help to stimulate communication, learning and self-expression, enabling people who may be unable to hold an instrument or speak to make their own unique contribution. They have a common goal to improve the lives of people with learning difficulties around Wiltshire and are working to grow their network to reach more people who could benefit from the free specialised music provision they offer, especially during lockdown.
Soundabout believe that people with learning disabilities should have an interactive musical life that enhances their lives and education. They have an extensive weekly timetable of online music sessions for people with complex and additional needs (available [here]) and wanted to highlight specific projects that you may be interested in (please click on each title to open the page):
[Soundabout Wiltshire Choir] – A musical community without barriers, for all ages and abilities, with a focus on giving a voice to people with severe and profound learning disabilities (SLD & PMLD). The choirs use Makaton signing and multi-sensory techniques so that everyone can participate. They really appreciate that everyone has a different way of sharing their voice which is why they welcome all soundmakers and technology.
Soundabout currently runs a FREE inclusive choir in collaboration with [Wiltshire Music Connect] and are looking for new families and participants to join.
