Wiltshire Autism Partnership Spring 2016 Newsletter

The Wiltshire Autism Partnership (WAP) was originally set up in response to the Autism Act 2009, to prepare and deliver a strategy and plan for Adults with Autism in Wiltshire. Since then there have been further guidelines issued, including those from NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) outlining good practice as well as the new updated national strategy “Think Autism”.

Wiltshire Parent Carer Council is part of the Wiltshire Autism Partnership group along with other people representing different statutory services, voluntary organisations, parents/carers and ‘experts by experience’ who are on the autism spectrum. They meet five times a year at different towns across the County and some also attend subgroups focussing on how to deliver different parts of Wiltshire’s Autism Plan.

Take a look at the group's latest Wiltshire Autism Partnership Spring 2016 Newsletter to find out more about what they have been working on.

Wiltshire Autism Online Forum

Several Wiltshire Autism Forum members have said that it would be great to have an online Wiltshire Autism Forum that has been designed to be easily used by autistic people. In order to engage with as many people who would be interested in this, there will be a ‘Communication Strategy’ meeting on 21st April 2016, 10.30am-12pm, Kennet House, Devizes SN10 2ET to discuss ideas for this. For further information, take a look at the event flyer.

Although the website has not been designed as yet, it will be set up at: https://thinkautismwiltshire.wordpress.com/
