Parent to Parent Service - National Autistic Society

Parent to Parent is the National Autistic Society’s UK-wide confidential telephone emotional support service for parents and carers of children and adults who are on the autism spectrum. The service is provided by trained parent volunteers who offer telephone support from their own homes.

Parents and carers can contact the service via phone or online. They can either call 0808 800 4106 at any time day and night and leave a message. It is not a manned line, but if they leave a message, a volunteer will call them back as soon as possible, at a time which suits them. Alternatively they can fill in the online enquiry form [HERE]

One of WPCC registered Parent Carers has kindly written the below information about her experience as a volunteer with this invaluable service:-

"I have recently started my role as a Parent to Parent volunteer at the National Autistic Society (NAS) Parent to Parent Service. I wanted to find a role where I could use my own personal experience of being a parent carer to help other parents. Having a child with ASD myself, I know just how isolating it can be and how upsetting it is when you are not listened to or understood. Which is why I was so thrilled to join the Parent to Parent Service team, where all volunteers are parents of children or adults with ASD.

Being parent carers ourselves means we are able to provide a non-judgemental and empathetic listening ear to other parents through the P2P phone service. As well as signposting them to information and other services we know well or may have used ourselves. I am so pleased to share this information so that more parents can access and become aware of this amazing service!"
