Returning to School – SEN Transport

Wiltshire Council has shared an open letter to parent carers explaining the transport arrangements from September 2020; for many children and young people, transport arrangements remain the same as they were in March unless you have received information to say otherwise. For all post-16 SEND students, transport will be set up on a temporary basis until timetables and students attending have been confirmed.

Face coverings on transport: Wiltshire Council’s approach to this is: “Everyone who can wear a face covering should do so on home to school transport arranged by Wiltshire Council if they are over the age of 11 years. There is no requirement for primary aged pupils or children who are exempt to wear one, although it is strongly recommended”. It is recognised that the wearing of a face covering for many of the young people with SEND who use transport could be difficult and in fact, may cause more harm than good. Parents and carers are therefore asked to make their own decision as to whether it is appropriate for their son/daughter to wear one, but if they can, it is suggested that they should.

Please see the following letter for more detail.
