London Science Museum - Accessible Days Out

The Science Museum (London SW7 2DD) runs a variety of accessible events throughout the year for visitors who need a quieter environment to enjoy the museum.




Early Birds - FREE
Early Birds is a sensory friendly event for families with members who benefit from visiting the museum outside regular hours, free from the hustle and bustle of the general public (for example, individuals with autism spectrum conditions or sensory processing differences).

The Early Birds accessible events are completely FREE and suitable for families with children aged 4–15. Siblings are welcome to attend, but all children and adults attending the event will need to book.

The Next Early Birds Session: Power UP!, Saturday 16 April 2022, 8.00am - 11.00am
At this hugely popular sensory-friendly session, you’ll be able to play with more than 160 consoles, from retro arcade standards through to the latest in VR technology.

Night Owls - FREE
Night Owls is a sensory friendly event for visitors aged 16+ who need a quieter environment to enjoy the museum.

Taking place on selected dates across the year, the museum will open after hours, and wherever possible will have adjusted operations and/or lowered volume levels on exhibits.

As well as exploring some of the galleries, you can enjoy a selection of fun activities across the museum. There will also be quiet areas for those needing to take a break.

General admission to Night Owls accessible events is free. Family and friends (aged 16+) are free to attend as well, but everyone will need to book a ticket in advance of the event.

The Next Night Owls Session: Saturday 4 June 2022, 6.30pm - 9.30pm

SENsory Astronights
SENsory Astronights are overnight events for families with members who benefit from a more relaxed museum atmosphere. Experience all the excitement of the Astronights in a more calm and free-flowing environment.

It is designed for children with special educational needs or disabilities aged 7-15 (they must be accompanied by at least one adult over the age of 18).

Campers can enter the museum after it has closed to the general public to explore the galleries and take part in a selection of fun activities, including workshops and shows. Each SENsory Astronights event is different. More details on exactly what to expect on the day will be sent out in advance of each event.

The next SENsory Astronight: Saturday 6th August 7.15pm – Sunday 7th August 10.00am
Price: £25 per camper.
