Warm Home Discount Scheme

About the scheme

If eligible, you could get £140 off your electricity bill for winter 2018 to 2019 under the Warm Home Discount Scheme.

This is a one-off discount on your electricity bill, between September and March. You may be able to get the discount on your gas bill instead if your supplier provides you with both gas and electricity. (Contact your supplier to find out.)

The discount does not affect any Cold Weather or Winter Fuel payments.

You qualify for the Warm Home Discount Scheme if:

  • you get the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit or
  • you’re on a low income and meet your energy supplier’s criteria for the scheme.

If you’re on a low income, you may be able to apply directly to your electricity supplier for help if:

  • your energy supplier is part of the scheme ([click here] to see the list)
  • you’re on a low income and
  • you get certain means-tested benefits

It’s your electricity supplier who decides who can get the discount - check with them to see if you’re eligible and how to apply. It’s best to check as early as possible as the number of discounts they can give are limited. For further information, please take a look at the [Warm Home Discount Scheme page] on the Government website.
