What's on in Wiltshire for children and young people with special needs/disabilities?

As part of the Aiming High for Disabled Children Programme, improving access to information on leisure, recreational opportunities and facilities for disabled children and young people in Wiltshire, has been very much a priority.

Through consultation with parent carers, the resounding message was they wanted to be able to visit just one site, in order to get all the information they needed about fun, interesting things for our children and young people to do in Wiltshire.

Parent Representatives of the WPCC worked very closely with the local authority to design and develop a 'one-stop' website.  Furthermore, the site was also tested by a group of parent volunteers prior to going live, to ensure it would be easy to navigate and use.

Before www.onestopwiltshire.co.uk was up and running, we did our best to signpost through our website, newsletters or directly via email to activity and sports clubs we've been told about.

We will continue to do this and will keep you updated as much as we can, however we would encourage you to start using www.onestopwiltshire.co.uk.

Please note the Family Information Service at 'ask' also provides information on activities in Wiltshire.

The Wiltshire Parent Carer Council does not directly provide funding for any short break activities in Wiltshire, however it does work with the local Authority to improve this service.  We consult with wider parents and carers about their experiences of accessing and using short break provision, to ensure are meeting the needs of children and their families.

If you have any comments to make, including  both postive and constructive feedback, or suggestions on how we can improve on things, do not hesitate to get in touch.
